We are so very excited to announce that #HPX25 headliner Lido Pimienta has just won the 2017 Polaris Prize for her album La Papessa.

The yearly prize for Canadian albums "judged solely on artistic merit, without consideration of genre or record sales," has been won in past years by Kaytranada (2016), Buffy Sainte-Marie (2015) and Tanya Tagaq (2014). Pimienta will receive a cash prize of $50,000.

The politically charged Spanish-language album is the first album not sung in English or French to win the Polaris Prize, and was released independently. In her statement, she said that the album honoured her brother who passed away in 2013.

Stream the award-winning album below, and make double sure not to miss Lido at #HPX25!
