Fostering an inclusive creative industries community that provides space, education and opportunities for emerging artists and young creative professionals.

 


This fall, a new program of activities for emerging creative professionals is being put on at the Youth Pavilion on the Halifax Commons from October 15th to October 22nd as part of the Halifax Pop Explosion Festival.


October 15 & 16 - ECPC: Emerging Creative Professionals Conference

Noon - 4:00 pm - FREE

On the afternoons of October 15th and 16th (noon to 4pm), please join Youth Art Connection, Halifax Pop Explosion and Pavilion Youth Association for a brand new two day conference designed to help emerging artists get their footing in the creative economy. With special guests such as film director Cazhmere, the sessions will incorporate activities, discussions, and making action plans in collaborations between pro artists and youth participants. Are you a musician, visual artist or into any other type of creativity? Do you want to explore being a music producer, or a booking agent, or a manager? Come out to meet pro musicians, creatives and industry professionals and hear how they made it in the business. Come try screen printing, make a business card, and have real talk about what opportunities exist for you in the creative economy!

October 15 - AART: All Ages Round Table

4:00 pm - 5:00 pm - FREE

4-5pm on October 15th we're holding the first of many All Ages Round Table events. Are you passionate about supporting the younger music scene in Halifax? Then please join us for a talk about how we can create the spaces, events, networks and infrastructure needed for Halifax's all ages musicians to get their new music out to the public. 


October 18 - HPX guests at The Spot

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm - FREE

On October 18th 5:30 to 7:30pm come hang out with members of the band Walrus at The Spot, an awesome free music & art program for priority youth that happens every Tuesday and Thursday at the Youth Pavilion during the school year. The guys from Walrus are gonna lead a jam session and talk about being a touring band. 


October 20 - Creative Roots fashion & music show

6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Thursday October 20th from 6:30 to 8:30pm join the local fashion industry for a show with live music and pop-up fashion booths event at the Youth Pavilion. Entry is free (donations for the live musicians appreciated) and you will get to check out work by Citadel, Court House Apparel, Maggie Jayne, Golden, Jallah Apparel, Family Over Fame, Gentlemen Mafia, Nova Fashion Incubator and a bunch more awesome designers. Music from local DJs including Heartbreak Mafia. Expect prize pack give-aways and surprise guests.

6pm - Doors and shopping
7pm - Runway show & live music with Jordan Metro, Yohan Black & Mikayla States
8pm - Mingle with DJ Heartbreak Mafia
